Have you ever noticed ducks congregate in groups? For a while, I noticed Mallards were always in threes It’s unusual to a duck alone. I guess that’s why I noticed the black duck landing in my yard. It was hard to miss him with all the small birds taking flight. We have no pond in the yard, but he did come back again, alone. The neighborhood is surrounded by creeks and a river. This one lone duck could be an independent spirit. What does a duck have to teach us?
When a duck shows up, it means move now because an opportunity has come your way. The duck also indicates swift action should be taken for your chance vanishes. It made me wonder what opportunities do I have?
A duck reminds us to turn our energies inward and explore our emotions. A duck is a water fowl that often dives under emotional water. This could be a time instead of considering everyone’s else feelings. You should consider your own
A duck is also a team player. That’s why I was so surprised to the duck alone. Ducks remind us we have to compromise to have harmonious relationships. If a duck is your totem animal, then you probably live within your comfort zone until forced out of it.
Female ducks will easily change partners if she feels another suits her better. It’s a reminder not to just settle for anyone, but wait for the right partner.
If you dream of ducks flying, it means freedom and community. Often we can be ourselves within a group. Not every duck is the same, nor should people try to emulate one another. The duck also serves as a sign of conservation. A reminder to honor the earth and all that live upon it.
As for my duck friend, he visits for all the seed the smaller birds fling on the ground. His large bill can easily scoop the fallen seed.
