Danu Forest
A dear friend of mine once remarked that the old Gods and Goddesses are still here. Even though they may have been switched out for a different deity, they never left. Instead, they are waiting in the rocks, in the woods, in the very air we breathe. They’re present waiting for someone to discover them and call their name. Once a person does the God or Goddess becomes real to the caller. Danu Forest introduces us to Gwyn Ap Nudd.
“Gwyn is known in Glastonbury where I live as a local hunter god, and king of the Faeries, dwelling in the mythological glass castle within Glastonbury Tor, a great hill that rises above the Avalon marshes in Somerset and can be seen for miles.”
Danu Forest first felt the spirit of Gwyn Ap Nudd in the forest. Perhaps, you have too. A stirring, an acknowledgement that you were not alone on your solitary path. Forest is a dedicated priestess of Gwyn Ap Nudd and well suited to explain his history.
Gwyn Ap Nudd is both a King of Tylwyth Tag and the Guardian of the underworld, Antwan. Due to the Christian influence his underworld kingdom became hell, which it certainly is not. As for Gwyn Ap Nudd his name was mentioned less and less, which was certainly tied to the persecution of those who kept to the old ways. No worries since Gwyn Ap Nudd is still here and ready to initiate those who choose to know him.
This is your chance to meet the noble lord and Wild God of the Faerie.
Danu Forest does an excellent job researching both literature and Celtic history to piece together a fascinating portrayal of Gwyn Ap Nudd, his queen, and even his court. She revives practices of honoring Gwyn and the forest.
Once again, Moon books has illuminated a subject that needed to be made known. The book, Gwyn Ap Nudd, is an excellent addition to your Kindle or bookshelf. Outside of being informative, you may find the Gwyn Ap Nudd knows your name.
