Many people disdain magicians because everything is a trick of distraction. Those gorgeous assistants in tiny costumes, explosions, flowing capes and even animals are there to focus your attention leaving the magician relatively free to make the switch needed to create the illusion. Most enter an auditorium or theatre ready to be fooled. After all, we paid good money for the opportunity. The argument about it not being real could be countered that it is as real as any movie; plenty of folks flock to see those.
The differentiation in spelling also honors the centuries of ceremonial magicians, high priests and priestesses, shamans, and witches. Magick in its most common form refers to energy created by paranormal elements. Elemental forces of nature, calling on spirits, or even the intentions of a person’s mind, could generate it. It is a natural extension of the person. It isn’t a trick in a magic supply catalog.
The only problem with magick is that it often confuses spell check and editors unfamiliar with it. Rest assured that magick is real.
