An anthology with contributions from nineteen writers, The Goddess in America is a book that identifies the enduring experience of Goddess Spirituality through a four-part discussion focused on the Native Goddess, the Migrant Goddess, the Goddess in relation to other aspects of American culture (Feminism, Christianity, Witchcraft etc.) and the Goddess in contemporary America.
REVIEW
As a member of The Re Formed Congregation of the Goddess, I was very pleased to see this book. Its many contributors shed light on the many facets of the Goddess. It explores the historical Goddess and the emerging contemporary Goddess worship. The authors deftly handle the issue if it culturally insensitive to worship and commune with ethnic Goddess not reflective of own heritage. It also addresses if a society who embraces the Goddess can be fair to all its citizens.
Overall, it is a book whose time is definitely now. It presents a balanced look with the inclusion of the writings from nineteen individuals.
