First all, you can sing any song about winter that doesn’t involve the celebration of Christ’s birth because that isn’t really what the holiday is about for you. The feast of Christmas happened four times a year in the medieval period. The Pope limited it to one day when it was apparent people were still celebrating Saturnalia, Yule and the Solstice. The plan was to overshadow those other days. It worked rather well too.
Here is a playlist you might enjoy.
1.Santa Claus is a Pagan Too.
It is a song about Christian and Pagan families celebrating peacefully together.
Hail The Holly King Lyrics
All across the virgin snow
And through the naked trees
On a cold winter's night
His song is on the breeze
Where the moonlight paints the frost
Upon the robin's song
He's come a-calling for us all
Now the summer's gone!
Hark! Hear the children sing
Glory to the Holly King
In the whisky and in the wine
He is here this Yule-tide time
A-dancing in the home-fire flames
A-dancing, singing, playing games
When the prayers are to the East
He is with us at the feast
His crown is nailed to the door
He's with us forevermore!
Chorus
Hark! Hear the children sing
Glory to the Holly King
Let the jingle bells all ring
Hail, hail the Holly King
Underneath the mistletoe
He is in all lover's hearts
He fans the flames of desire
'Tis he who fires Cupid's darts
He is in all children's dreams
Dressed in red or dressed in green
Riding on the astral sleigh
He's the spririt of the day!
Chorus again
Hark! Now hear the children sing
Glory to the Holly King
Let the jingle bells all ring
Hail, hail the Holly King
5. The Solstice Carol (can be sung as a round)
(Bells and their songs are the property of the element, Air.)
7. The Wizards of Winter (Instrumental)
It includes a light show too.
The original song some thought was commissioned by Henry VIII in a reference to a woman who didn't return his romantic overture. She must have been a gutsy female.
9. Noon of Solstice
Lovely version.
It is a familiar tune with better lyrics.
